This past weekend, my husband and I finally made it to The Breakfast Club At Midtown in Lafayette—and y’all, it was everything I didn’t know I needed in a brunch. Tucked in the heart of town, this local gem serves up next-level brunch favorites with generous portions and bold flavors that’ll make your taste buds do a happy dance. On a recent weekend outing, my husband and I decided to check it out—and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
I ordered the Shrimp & Crab Omelette, which came perfectly folded and packed (and I mean packed) with tender crab meat and succulent shrimp, and it was topped with hollandaise sauce. No skimping here. The omelette was light and fluffy, and paired beautifully with savory home fries that were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. As if that weren’t enough, it came with a massive slice of coffee cake—soft, cinnamon-y, and melt-in-your-mouth good. I’m talking bakery-level perfection. Our amazing server suggested taking the coffee cake home for later as she warned us that the portions were huge, and I’m pleased to say we took her advice and enjoyed the coffee cake later that afternoon.

My husband went for the Steak Huevos Rancheros, and wow—just wow. It was a huge, flavor-packed plate featuring well-seasoned steak, perfectly cooked eggs, warm tortillas, and creamy refried beans. His plate came with hash browns, and let’s just say he had potato envy when it came to my home fries! Nevertheless, every bite delivered the kind of comfort that makes you want to come back for more.

Because we clearly weren’t full enough (ha!), we also shared the Banana Pecan Waffle, and let me just say—it was over the top in the best way possible. Loaded with warm, toasted pecans, fresh banana slices, and a generous sprinkle of shredded coconut, this waffle was ginormous. Like, easily-share-with-three-other-people ginormous. Sweet, nutty, and indulgent—basically the dessert of brunch dreams.

The vibe? Casual and welcoming. There’s plenty of outdoor seating if you’re chasing the sunshine and lots of cozy indoor seating too. Plus, they’ve got a full-service bar with all your brunch cocktail faves—from mimosas to Bloody Marys and everything in between.

This spot is officially going on my rotation list. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, The Breakfast Club at Midtown in Lafayette is totally worth the stop. They are open from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM 7 days a week, so drop in and bring your appetite!
